Mixed Up Rhythms is a rhythm practice tool for working musicians and serious students. Enter a melodic passage from a piece you are working on, and the app generates that passage written in every rhythm pattern for a given group size — a complete systematic workout in all rhythms.

Select how many notes are in each rhythm pattern: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8. Start with 3 or 4 if you are new to the system.

Choose the clef your instrument reads in and the key of your passage. The instrument setting transposes the audio preview to concert pitch — so if you play B♭ clarinet, what you hear matches what you sound.

Type a document name, then tap notes on the keyboard. Tap a chip's spelling button to cycle enharmonics. Use ► Play Passage to hear your entry back.

Tap Generate Exercises to produce the full set of rhythm patterns. Use ⛶ Full Screen for tablet reading or Export / Print PDF to export.

— Your passage plays once through each pattern, stopping when all notes are used.
— Any passage length works — a few notes or an entire phrase.
— Tap ↻ Start Over to reset and begin a new passage.
